Health isn’t just the absence of symptoms, though that’s certainly nice. It’s feeling present for your life and the people in it. It’s feeling like you’re living in alignment with your deepest values, giving your gifts to the world, and doing this in a sustainable way.
I help you understand the connections between your symptoms and your life, between your mind and body, so that you can make more medicinal life choices. How you live each day adds up to how you feel. If you breathe, move, think, relax, eat, and digest life differently, you’re going to end up feeling differently too. I help you look with the lens of Chinese Medicine to see yourself in a new way, and to help you align with your own inner wisdom, and apply these insights to your life.
I love empowering people to take care of themselves, so when I’m not treating patients, I teach, speak, blog, and host a weekly podcast, A Healthy Curiosity, I’m also a Featured Guest Blogger for the Huffington Post. And when I’m not doing any of that, I’m out hiking, experimenting with new recipes, learning about Functional Medicine, practicing yoga, playing cello with The Hunks and the Hottie, and spending time with my husband and two awesome step-children.
There’s a saying in Chinese Medicine: “one cause, a thousand diseases.” In this country, that “one cause” that gives rise to the majority of all conditions for which people seek help is – you guessed it– stress. It’s tough to combat stress without some sort of body-mind practice. That’s why I created the following self-study courses:

We work with smart people who like to be active partners in their healing process, who would rather get at the root of a problem than mask the symptoms, and are willing to explore doing things differently. We treat issues like:

Letting us know your best days and times helps the scheduling process along. We’re typically in the office returning phone calls Monday through Thursday.
Because creating lasting change takes time (and because my schedule tends to fill up 4-6 weeks in advance) we’ll set you up with a handful of visits right away to ensure a responsible plan of care.
If your main complaint is a pain issue, please schedule twice a week for the first two weeks to get the ball rolling – momentum is your friend at the outset of a treatment plan. If it’s not pain related and you’re willing to work with the other tools like herbs, lifestyle, and diet, please schedule once a week for 5 weeks. Then we can add or subtract as needed based on your progress, but we at least start with a solid framework.

Brodie’s formal bio
Brodie Welch is a Licensed Acupuncturist, board-certified herbalist, self-care strategist, and Chinese Medicine educator practicing in Corvallis, Oregon.
Brodie earned her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine degree at Southwest Acupuncture College in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2003. She is a Nationally Certified Diplomate in Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Having completed a three-year teacher-training program with Dr. Liu Dong and Master Liu He at the Ling Gui International Healing Qi Gong School in Seattle, Washington, she is also a Senior Healing Qi Gong Teacher, integrating Oriental Medical theory with practical instruction in several forms of qi gong and meditation. A long-time yoga practitioner, she earned a Yoga Teacher Training certification in 2011. She also holds a certification in holistic health coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and in AromaAcupoint Therapy.
She is a member of both the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine AAAOM and the Oregon Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine OAAOM. Brodie is deeply inspired by the teachings of Classical Chinese Medical master Dr. Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th-generation Daoist priest and renowned expert in the field, with whom she has studied extensively.
Prior to becoming an acupuncturist, Brodie received her B. A. from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, and trained in massage therapy at the East West College of Healing Arts in Portland, Oregon. While attending acupuncture school, she practiced as a Licensed Massage Therapist with a focus on chronic pain relief. Her adept palpation skills and sensitivity to the bodymind inform both her practice and instruction of Oriental Medicine.
In addition to her clinical practice, Brodie enjoys sharing her passion for Chinese Medicine through teaching. She has taught workshops to lay people as well as fellow health care providers on acupuncture, diet, herbs, psycho-emotional health, stress management, women’s health, and qi gong, nationwide and abroad. Her students appreciate her dynamic style, passion, depth of knowledge, and ability to create a safe space for deep transformation. She loves catalyzing change for her patients and students by helping them understand the links between the body, mind, and spirit as described in Chinese Medicine.
